Finished Big “Blackberry Salad” Crocheted Blanket in Pinks & Browns

Earlier this week I shared my stack of county fair entries and my finished Blackberry Salad afghan was in it.

This is my favorite blanket to make. It is a free pattern from Mooglyblog and is available in several sizes. I’ve made it before for my niece Lucy. This time I made the throw size and it came out to 40″ x 52.” As always, it uses an “I” hook and all scrap yarn.

This pink and brown combo has come up a lot in my work lately. (Recent granny finish here) Perhaps up next I will do a floral granny square afghan of brown floral centers and pink petals.

I highly recommend making a Blackberry Salad blanket. They are not quick but the texture is so nice to have on your lap. It is a lot of fun to put a palette together and keep everything balanced to look scrappy but not awful but also not planned. I find it addictive to sit and add another color to see the pattern develop.

I’m still pretty sure the person I had in mind for his is expecting a girl, but I should probably start on a backup just in case. It seems the whole world is pregnant with Christmas time babies right now and someone has to have a boy eventually.
